Hu Yun upsets Peter Hoeg Gade in Men?s Singles first round at Yonex Japan Open 2012

Hong Kong?s Hu Yun surprised everyone by putting up amazing show of top quality badminton as he showed exit to his higher ranked challenger Peter Hoeg Gade of Denmark in Men?s Singles first round at the Yonex Japan Open 2012 in Japan, on Wednesday, September 19.

The lower ranked Yun, who is currently World Number 21 in Men?s Singles category, played crushing badminton against the second seeded Gade who has been positioned at number five in the world.

In the opening game, Gade got a shocking treatment as he did not expect aggressive play from his rival and remained struggling on court.

The Hong Kong shuttler played with precision from opening points and managed to push Gade on back foot without showing him any mercy.

In the meanwhile, the higher ranked Gade played quivering badminton as he failed to find a good rhythm and also could not control the pace of rallies. He remained unable to put up strong show and went down to his un-seeded rival in straight sets in just 36 minutes.

In the opening game, Gade got a shocking treatment as he did not expect aggressive play from his rival and remained struggling on court.

The Hong Kong shuttler played with precision from opening points and managed to push Gade on back foot without showing him any mercy.

Until the mid-game interval, the in-form Yun got a strong lead as he maintained a firm grip over the pace of rallies.

After the break, Yun continued his killing performance as he kept playing attacking badminton without slowing down his speed and eventually won the first game with a 21-11 score on the board.

In the second game, Yun again played positive badminton as he did not commit unforced errors and remained successful in taking a reasonable 11-8 score on the board.

After the interval, Gade played positive game and managed to level the score at 11-11. He remained close to his in-form rival all the way to reach at 20-20.

At this stage, Yun showed his class without dropping his speed and remained successful in taking the set with a 22-20 margin on the board.
